Matej Bel University is a public educational institution located in Banska Bystrica, Slovakia. Its Pedagogic Faculty will celebrate the 50 th year anniversary in 2004. The main focus of the Faculty is to prepare teachers for elementary schools and lower secondary schools. In recent years, however, it has also offered study programs in social and theological professions. The graduates are awarded Bachelor, Master and Doctoral degrees. Department of Mathematics has recently been involved in Socrates programme (Comenius 3.1).
